OCTOBER 4 & 5, 2013
Cacophony. It means "a discordant mixture of sounds," and it's the word evoked by the vision John has of the people of God before the throne of God in Revelation 7:9: "a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb."
It sounds chaotic. But the kingdom of God is the place where cacophony becomes harmony.
The students and alumni of IWU can sometimes seem like a discordant bunch. We all have our own voices, our unique visions. But when we gather together, it is easy to see how we form one body.
Homecoming this year is based around the theme of "One Together." We will gather to welcome the new President, David Wright, and celebrate his call to service. And we will see how every person in the IWU family has their own calling, their own place of service, and their own voice for the world to hear. Each voice sounds lovely. But in harmony, we make beautiful music.
